{Wonder Woman Series #4} Introducing Miss. Meadows!

Happy Friday dolls & welcome back to my blog, haha! I'm so sorry I was away with no notice for a bit. My youngest spilled juice on my other computer and it stopped working, so I had to order a laptop and wait for it to come. I did enjoy the break though, I got a lot of other things done that I had been meaning to get around to doing. I also realized how much time this blog takes up sometimes, but I do love it. And I missed all of you & your wonderful blogs. I shall be spending today & the weekend to catch up with you all!! I decided to share another 'Wonder Women' post as I think this one goes perfectly with the last one as we both love Dita. I introduce you to Miss Meadows...she's a darling girl & her blog is a favourite. Filled with vintage treasures and beautiful wonders, she has a charming personality, one that I adore very much. I always think it's great knowing there is someone far off in the world that loves so many of the same things as I do, so I do hope you enjoy & be sure to say hello too...she won't bite....well maybe ;)

Have a wonderful day dolls, thank you so much for all the sweet messages of concern for me too, it was so kind...they made a doll feel loved!!

hugs and kisses to you all
xoxoxox

Name: Miss Meadows

BLOG | TWITTER | FACEBOOK

Occupation: Blogger, alternative model, burlesque dancer.

1. Your a vintage gal, when did vintage become part of your life?

I have always - ever since I was little - loved antiques and old clothes, but it wasn't until just a few years ago I really fell for vintage. I noticed that the dresses from the 40's and 50's really fitted my body and made me feel pretty and secure in myself. Many people don't like the stares that come with wearing full vintage regalia and red lipstick, but for some reason it helped building up my confidence. I guess I just really found the perfect style for myself!

2. What ladies have you been inspired by over the years?

I'm inspired by women - and men - who dare to be themselves, no matter how "weird" they might seem or look in other persons eyes. THOSE are the ones interesting to both talk to and look at! Since I prefer dressing in vintage I take inspiration from the women who lived in the 40's and 50's. I like looking at pictures of both the glamorous stars of those days, and photos of unknown "normal" girls to figure out how they did their make-up and hair, and how they dressed. Of course I have to mention Dita Von Teese too, as she is probably the only - now living - celebrity who tries to emulate the vintage look I love so much. Since I'm also into burlesque I really like her since she is completely self-made, and has gotten really far by daring to look like she wants to, and do what she wants to!

3. You used to do ballet, but had an injury, how did that impact your goals in life?

I used to take everything very seriously, almost never being satisfied with anything I did. After spending almost seven years with such horrible pain that I couldn't live any more  and loosing about six years of my life I have re-evaluated things a little...I still take everything I do serious, BUT, I have learnt that the most important thing is to feel good about what you do! If I had a choice between two jobs - one I knew I would hate, but that would make me really rich, and one that I would like going to every day, but with a salary not nearly as high as the other job - I would choose the second one! We can all die at any moment, or have an accident that stops us from living, so don't save that champagne for tomorrow - drink it today! Always be responsible for your own lives, but don't forget to enjoy living as much as you can, while you still can!

4. You've just started performing burlesque, how has the experience made you feel? Some people still think burlesque is a no-no so to speak, what would you say it is? (Paint the world of burlesque in your mind for those who don't know about the rich history and way women have paved their way in it.)

Getting up on a stage for the first time - in my pointe shoes - after all those pain-years was amazing! I just want to get up there again as soon as possible! When I perform burlesque myself I like to keep it elegant, and I do it with a wink in the eye - because burlesque isn't supposed to be too serious, it's all about having fun! Compared to today's "normal" striptease, the goal of burlesque isn't to sexually excite the audience in the way you can see at strip clubs, and we never get completely naked either. Burlesque is more cabaret-like, with beautiful, sparkling costumes, feather fans and glitter! Most acts have a theme too, with music, a costume, and movements that tell a little "story". The audience who comes to see burlesque is part of the performance too, in a way. When the person on stage removes a piece of clothing, or does a certain move, the people who are used to this sort of entertainment know that they're supposed to whistle, scream and make encouraging noises. No one is there just to drool over boobs, they're there so see an extravagant show and have a good time! Every person I've met just after seeing their first burlesque show have ALWAYS been a bit astounded over how good it was, and how they didn't know that THAT what was burlesque looked like! And then they want to see it again - or like me - get up on stage and do it themselves!

5. If you could give all women 3 things for their lives, what would they be?

First of all I would give them the confidence to be who they really want to be - no matter what other people think of it! Secondly I would bless them all with the strength to go through all the bad thing life puts us through, and come out stronger on the other side. There will always exist bad things in this world, and we all go through different hardships, so be there for each other when it happens...Thirdly I would give you all a HUGE walk-in-closet! With a big chandelier in the ceiling...And a red velvet chaise lounge...And a full champagne fridge...

And as a very special treat...I give you Miss Meadows performing her burlesque act for you!!

  23. Great interview, I think everyone can find something interesting in it. I really enjoyed reading it and it your questions were very well thought trough.

She seems such an amazing women and she's right about treasuring each moment. Life is to short to live it for anybody but ourselves. By that I don't mean that we should be selfish, but that we shouldn't try to fit in and try to live to other people's expectations. It never works out anyway...so live life to the fullest is my philosophy!

  27. When I read this post it feels like I'm reading about someone else than myself. But someone who has exactly the same opinion about things as I do! :) Thank you SO much for making me feel like a wonder woman - and sharing me with your followers! There are so many wonder women out there, but often it isn't until someone else tell us we are as great as we are, that we actually realize we really should be confident in ourselves and maybe even can help others feel like wonder women too... I feel extremely honored to be part of this blog series, and will share this post on all my social media tomorrow - when people in Sweden are awake ;) Reading the comments to this post was also very heart warming. And they also made me realize how much your followers appreciate you and your blog - just as I do! As soon as you disappear for a few days we all miss you honey :) This also gave me a good tip though...I don't have children, but if I want to take a break from the time consuming task that blogging is, I will just make sure my cat knocks over a glass of something over my computer, so I can't blog for a few days... ;) But I do love it...And it's lovely - as you wrote - to know there are people out there in different countries that you can share so many things with! I don't have much time to read other blogs, but I always read yours! We seriously HAVE to meet some day!!! Love you darlin'! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

  28. I see that I was right to be excited for this post Doll, definitely didn't disappoint me. I loved reading all about Miss Meadows history from injuring herself to going back to doing what she loves. She's such an inspiration in that respect and I honestly do feel like she more than deserves the title of a Wonder Woman and like we said earlier, more recognition! Absolutely adore this little piece, just perfect, I knew that Dita was going to come up in the inspirations bit before even seeing the photo haha! Good to see you back too Doll, shame about your old laptop, I'm glad that you enjoyed the break though, honestly you deserved it Doll!

  32. I love burlesque and Miss Meadows is sublime. I am off to the Brisbane Burlesque Festival in June! We have the divine Lola the Vamp here in Aus. I loved her even more after we had extreme flooding across the country in 2011, and she among other helpful things rallied everyone on Facebook to rescue and relocate 100s of animals from shelter! Imagine, people were knocking themselves out to help. Missed you last week, too. You really are the loveliest to compliment my latest little fleur. Xxx
