{The Powder Room} Scottish Fine Soaps Review...

Set in the Ochil hills in central Scotland, Derek Ross established Scottish Fine Soaps with vision and ambition. I found them on Twitter after they followed me. I decided to find out for myself what they were like. I ordered the Boheme & Poetica wash/lotion sets, as I liked their descriptions. On first glance, I liked the packaging, very pretty, something you wouldn't mind having out on display for yourself or guests. With my order, I also received some free samples, which was quite lovely. Everything was well packaged & came in the post in good time. After talking on Twitter, the people at Scottish Fine Soaps are really lovely too.

{Note. This post isn't sponsored, I wasn't paid for this review. It was done purely because I enjoyed the products. I bought them on my own accord. All opinions are completely my own.}

"Poetica is an original sensuous fragrance from the perfume collection. A blend of fruity, floral and spicy notes combined together to provide a luxurious evocative scent that will transport you away. Enriched with Cocoa Butter, vitamins & Almond oil, to uplift and rejuvenate your skin, making bath time an enchanting experience"

Price: £9.95 (2x100ml)

My Thoughts: I loved the packaging, very vintage looking. You can definitely smell the spicy notes amongst the sweeter notes. It would be perfect for those who like sweet & spicy, but can't decide between the two. There is a certain element of mysteriousness and allure to this, you can't quite put your finger on what your smelling, but you feel the need to keep smelling it. The wash leaves the skin feeling clean and lightly fragranced. Body butter is light and creamy, melts into the skin. Connecting to the name of it, I did think of writers and poets and sweet words when I got a hint of this scent. Adore - must smell the actual perfume now!

5 out 5 hearts: Sizzling Heart!
♥♥♥♥♥

"Boheme, a sensual blend of musks, florals and amber combined to create a range of gorgeously fragrant and utterly decadent bath and body treats. Boheme will leave the body nourished and enhanced, refreshed and beautifully scented, helping to rejuvenate the skin"

Price: £9.95 (2x100ml)

My Thoughts: I preferred the packaging of Poetica, but that's just me as a very visual person, an Art Nouveau kind of inspired packing would have been perfect. I say that because the aroma of this reminded me of boudoirs and women lacing up their corsets & rolling on their stockings. I thought of feathers and pearls, lace and satin. Feminine and charming, this was more on the lightly sweeter, floral side. Not as deep, but dancing somewhere in the middle, it's very delicate yet tantalizing to the senses. Gives off a 'come hither' feeling to me. The wash had a great lather and rinsed cleanly, left a light fragrance on the skin. Again, the body cream is light & non-greasy. Love - I need it & want more!

These were my free samples. The Boheme body cream is obviously as the above. The 'Get Fizzical' bath bar was hilariously fun. It turned my bath water completely orange, I felt like I was bathing in Orange Tango or Orange Kool-Aid (for my American readers). The smell was marvellous, fresh and sweet like real oranges, made the skin feel soft and silky, don't worry, it didn't leave you orange either. I loved it, the only thing it needed was glitter, haha :) A wonderful treat! ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 out of 5 hearts - Sizzling Heart.

The Au Lait Body Butter was absolutely gorgeous. It's enriched with milk and creamy cocoa butter. Light fragrance, I couldn't stop smelling my skin after using this. It reminded me a bit of babies after a bath. Light, whipped textured and melts into the skin easily; I would definitely buy products from this range, very pleased. ♥♥♥♥♥ 5 out of 5 hearts - Sizzling Heart.

The Classic Male Grooming Moisturising Aftershave Balm, my husband used this for me. He said it was slightly stinging for him when he applied it, but that went away after a few minutes. It left his skin feeling soft & well moisturised. This is a very rare for my husband to like something straight off, as he's very particular about what he uses. The scent had a woodsy, cocoa butter scent, yet very light & quite soft compared to others that can have a more overbearing & suffocating scent. ♥♥♥♥ 5 out of 5 hearts - Sizzling Heart.

Lasting thoughts...I was quite surprised as to how much I enjoyed everything, usually this never happens. But, I would definitely buy more from this company. I think they are well made & given a lot of attention to quality. They actually work, my skin feels marvellous and smells amazing. Worth the price you pay, I actually think its like buying posh products, but without the posh price tag! You can have a peek at their products on the website link below. Have a gorgeous day dolls!

  1. I also prefer the look of the Poetica packaging, but according to your descriptions I would love to try the Bohème! On the other hand I love reading and poetry, so I should probably go for both... ;) Now I'm going to spend some quality time going through Scottish Fine Soaps' web site, instead of working. Hehe... ;) xxxxxxx

  39. I'm always tempted to buy custom soaps and such because they smell soooo good and they look fancy and/or cute. But the cheapness in me can never justify paying or than typical drugstore brands. Maybe that's why my skin sucks...

    Sincerely,
    Sabrina
