Pretty in Pink.....and Skulls!

Hello my sweety-pops! I hope your week is faring well so far! It's brightened up here, Monday was up and down, but since then the sun has been out at times. My cold is almost all gone now as well - hurrah!! I've been sat eating chocolate cake that my husband made, am convinced this has been the cure in making me better...my husband doesn't eat chocolate & he got worse, I tried telling him to eat some chocolate, he's starting to think I may be right, haha! A little bit of happiness makes all things better *wink* Anyways...this is one of the items I purchased from Collectif that I wrote about some weeks ago. I was actually at the start of my cold in these pictures & not feeling at all well, but I put on the dress to cheer myself up (it's only the second pink item I have in my closet) it definitely made me smile & I love the skulls :) The material is light and feels marvellous, such a wonderful dress, it came quite fast in the post too, which I appreciated. I adore the contrast of sweet pink with the edgy skulls, fantastic. I'm on the hunt for a lovely cardigan to wear with it now & a new skull necklace since I can't find my other one. I absolutely love Collectif (as you know) & shall most definitely make more purchases in the future too! The other item that I bought, I'll show off in another post once I get the things I have in mind to wear with it! But, I hope you enjoy these & check out Collectif if you haven't already! Have a gorgeous Wednesday dolls! I'm going to be getting for Halloween tomorrow, my girls costumes around (They're dressing up as Monster High Dolls) & watching the premiere of Dracula here in the UK that I've been waiting for months to come on - excitement!! Have a wonderful Halloween tomorrow!

Open your eyes & see the beauty...

Good Monday dolls, I hope your weekend was bliss. Mine was stuck inside mostly due to being unwell, both the husband and I were unwell all weekend and the weather was just not good. Rain rain and high winds, craziness. So, this is a different post than I had planned, but just some things that reflect my thoughts just now. Like what is success to you!?! This first image is spot on with how I feel, because in this world we tend to measure success with how much money someone has or big houses or popularity, but that doesn't really equate to success to me, it's more about what we ourselves deem as successful & not the world. Doing what you truly love & maybe not having much money can be successful to someone & I find that beautiful. You could be a famous blogger, but not anyone famous in terms of Hollywood, but that might be enough for someone & they deem themselves as a success. As long as it stays in YOUR terms and not someone else's, then you will succeed. Sometimes when we get knocked down, we think it's all over, but it's only over if you don't get back up. Sometimes we need to lay back and strengthen ourselves and then get up and out there and keep on moving & who says that you can't make that bumpy road glitter as you walk over it!?! It's all about perspective...clear your mind of cant's and fill them with positives, even if you fail or mess up, it doesn't matter, because you tried, you learned and you got back up to have another go. We all have dreams and hopes, but never let them be just that - reach for them, grasp them, take them and run with them & make this life all you want it to be!! Everything begins and ends in our hearts and minds...so fill it with possibilities and determinations!! You never know where it will get you!!

Have a wonderful Monday dolls

P.S. I had to share this video because it's one of the most beautiful videos I've seen in a long time..raw, simple and real! The 'guy' is actually a girl & she's like the most beautiful face ever...gorgeous!! I have a complete girl crush on her, haha! Erika Linder <3 I hope you listen to the words & let them in..because I think it's something everyone is looking for...love that will be there unconditionally no matter what or who we are!! Hopefully it plays for you wherever you are, if not just do a search in youtube :)

Diana from Effortless Lady gave me this award last weekend, so I'd like to thank her very much, it's so kind. I am to tell 7 things about myself, so here we go: 1. I do not like for one minute getting my blood taken, they always say my veins are small or I feel too cold to take the blood easily & I end up being stuck with a needle more than once to draw blood, I just joke & say I'm really a vampire, muuuuaahhaaa ;-) 2. When I was in elementary school (nursery) I used to have my own desk out in the hallway because I talked too much in class or I told the teacher she was wrong about stuff. I preferred being in the hallway to her class though. I was a highly sarcastic child (still am3. My favourite colour is blue - all shades and I always have something blue on wherever that might be ;) 4. I like copying different accents, I've gotten quite good at it. I can copy an accent if I hear it long enough. Though, it's made my own American accent a bit distorted that I can put on a more American accent or take it away. I sometimes have to put on a more American accent, so the American tourists that come here can understand what I'm saying, LOL! My husband thinks it's hysterical ;)  5. I only own three pairs of trousers...a pink pair of vintage 70's corduroy trousers, a pair of silk navy wide leg trousers with hearts all over them & a tartan like designed pair that I call my 'Grandpa trousers' because the design reminds me of ones that you see older men wearing, ha. I love them! I usually just wear them indoors or playing with my girls. But, maybe I'll do some posts with them on soon. 6. Once I said hello to a man at a gig who said hi to me, it later turned out to be the lead singer from Snow Patrol, he looked familiar but it didn't dawn on me until later. He was very nice. I'm not very phased by famous people & that whole obsessed thing, they are just people to me! 7. I used to write music reviews for online music sites for indi or unsigned bands, so I've been to a lot of gigs and got free music. Was a lot of fun, but only really when the band was good, haha!

One of the fun things about magazines here is that you always find some freebie stuck in them, some of them tat and other times something really good. Well, in my case, it was something really good. It was the first time I had even heard of Balance Me, but I thought it couldn't hurt to try something that was free. And I can say that I'm really happy that I did. Balance Me is a British aromatherapy skin care line that was created by two sisters in 2005. They have left their business careers behind  & retrained in the holistic field in a quest for better work-life balance. The result were products that are natural, high performing, paraben and sulphate free. Which I think is super awesome, as I feel there are too many chemicals & other nasties in products as it is. But, then I thought, does it actually work!?!

Balance Me Limited Edition Shine On Tinted Lip Salve in Sheer Raspberry: This was a limited edition product just available in the magazine that I bought that had it as a free gift. I didn't actually need the magazine again, but I forgot my lip balm & the cold weather had chapped my lips (to the point of cracking) so it was more cost efficient to just buy the magazine again than buy something else. And believe me it was worth it. I wish they'd make this a regular in their line because it's one of the best lip salves ever! Again, it smells like melted sweeties, so gorgeous. Glides on easy, moisturizes without feeling greasy. This being tinted and me having slightly tanner lips, it didn't give much tint colour, but I could have cared less, it actually worked. The dryness of my lips improved in a day & they were quite dry. I didn't have to re-apply this as often as I had to with my old stuff. I've been using this for months now & I still have pretty much a full tube, you really don't need to use much, I only use a dot of it. It has a blend of virgin coconut oil, jojoba oil, rosehip oil, castor oil, and sweet almond oil. The colour tint has been formulated with natural mineral makeup. This product is 100% natural in its origins.  Really quite wonderful.

5 out of 5 hearts - Sizzling Heart

This product would cost £12 for 10ml which many would say was crazy just for lip salve, but when it works as good as this does & lasts as long as it has for me, I would pay that, because when you think about it, that price can be reached in a few purchases for something else that might not work as well as this one does. Which always happens to me, so I rather save myself some money :) Plus, it's 100% natural, no nasties...just wholesome goodness for your lips...so pucker up ;-)

Balance Me Super Toning Body Wash: It's active ingredients are juniper, bergamot, geranium and lavender. Designed to improve skin tone, while softening & smoothing & aid in circulation, strong enough to clean, but gentle enough to leave the skin's natural oils. It's very aromatic, like sweet flowers in the sun or like being at the sweety shop. I really enjoyed the aroma, perfect for perking up the senses. Using a loofah, it foams perfectly & rinses away easily. Leaving a gorgeous fainted scent after. I was really impressed. My skin felt nourished and balanced indeed, not tight or dry feeling like other products that are a bit harsh.

5 out of 5 hearts - Sizzling Heart

This product would cost £9.00 for 100ml (also available in other sizes) I don't overuse my products as I know many are prone to doing, but if you use the recommended amount, this product will last you a good time, saving you money in the long run. And for those that buy designer washes and such, this is like chump change in price comparison. It's natural, it smells amazing, it works, so I think it's worth the price.

Also here is just a small sneak peek into my latest purchases...although I will admit the clothes are being put away for Christmas...so I don't actually get them just yet, I just get to pick out any gifts that are clothes, because my size varies too much between stores.

{Left to right: Smock dress from Vintage Style Me handmade from vintage fabric, Tartan skirt & skull dress that I loved from Collectif that you'll remember that I posted about last week, my husband treated me to these as they were on sale, so they'll pop up in outfit posts soon. And the bag in the middle is my new make-up bag that I carry in my handbag, I'll do a post about my make-up/skin care routine soon, since I get asked about it a lot.}

Have a great weekend dolls

Fruity flowers, peacocks, a doll & her castle!

Good day beauties! I am back to take you away once more...as you can see these are the pictures that were taken of myself wandering around the castle...I do admit I wish I was back to this day...the sunshine was so glorious and strong, that it warmed up the flowers while the wind bellowed their sweet & tantalizing scent to tease your senses...laying back on the green green grass and watching the clouds pass by or stunning peacock friends coming to say hello. Minutes slip into hours without a care, darting in and out of shrubbery mazes & peeping at statues you swear turned and smiled. Sitting on the bridge and listening to the gentle waters babbling back...only the sound of nature to take your cares away. I hope you enjoy & wish you a glorious Wednesday!

Lots of loves

P.S. for any of you that know of my love for peacocks will know how excited I was to see these :))))

Come away with me....

Come away with me...let us run free in the garden, playing games, sitting in the sun as it caresses our skin. Hear the bubbling waters from the river near as it rushes to and fro. Flowers swing as the wind caresses their petals...giving it's final flourish of colour before the last of Autumn sends them to sleep with it's angelic lullaby as winter takes hold. Majestic peacocks wander free saying hello and goodbye as quickly as you can spot them...if your still and lucky, they just may come and wander near you. Statues stand tall and proud as if smiling down to you, enchanted that you have come to say hello. The sweet floral musk scents the air, warm and enchanting...sending the senses in rapture....this wonderland hidden away from the bustles of the world. Full of history and decadence...a little paradise on earth. Stay, sit, wander, dream...let it dazzle you..enchant you....and you may not ever wish to leave!

Happy Monday beauties...some of my photos taken at Drummond Castle that I ventured to some time ago...below you'll find some history on it as well, it's a special place, only really & fully experienced in the flesh...I do hope all of you get to venture there sometime soon!! This is part one...I'll share more with you in the next post ;-) I hope you enjoy it & have a wonderful day!!

Dainty History Lesson

Drummond Castle, built in 1941 by Sir John Drummond. His daughter was the lover of James IV; it is rumoured that they even married and had a daughter. In order to form an alliance with England, Scotland's nobles wanted James IV to marry Margaret Tudor, the sister of the English king Henry VII. Margaret Drummond was in the way of this plan and along with her two sisters, were murdered with poisoned fruit. Mary Queen of Scots stayed at the castle. It is best known for it's gardens. The castle comprises a tower house built in the late 15th century and a 17th century mansion, both which were re-built in Victorian times.

The castle was sacked by the army of Oliver Cromwell in 1653, during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms. James Drummond, 4th Earl of Perth was Lord Chancellor of Scotland under King James VII. He began the mansion house in 1689, before being imprisoned following the deposition of King James by William of Orange. He later fled to the exiled Jacobite court in France. The Drummonds continued to support the Jacobite cause in the uprisings of 1715 and 1745. The family retained control of the estate until 1750 when the Drummond properties were declared forfeit and seized by the state. The estate was managed by the Commissioners for Forfeited Estates until 1784, when it was sold to Captain James Drummond. He began a number of improvements that were continued by his daughter Sarah and her husband Peter Drummond-Burrell, 22nd Baron Willoughby de Eresby (1782–1865). These included the formal gardens and terraces in the 1830s. Queen Victoria visited the gardens in 1842.
Drummond Castle passed to Clementina Drummond-Willoughby, 24th Baroness Willoughby de Eresby (1809–1888), and then to her son, Gilbert Heathcote-Drummond-Willoughby, 1st Earl of Ancaster (1830–1910). The upper stories of the tower house were rebuilt and heightened in pseudo-medieval style in 1842–53. The mansion was renovated in 1878, to designs by George Turnbull Ewing. The 3rd Earl of Ancaster and his wife, Nancy Astor, replanted the gardens in the 1950s. The castle is now the seat of the 28th Baroness Willoughby de Eresby.
The castle itself isn't allowed to be visited inside, it's just the grounds itself that are opened to the public to view.
