{Share in Style} Masculine

Happy Monday dolls!! Am back to regular postings now...my girls are back at school now after what felt like a very loooong break, haha! I think they were starting to get under each other's feet, so some space will do them some good now. But, I really enjoyed having the break to do nothing but enjoy their sweet faces. Today is Share in Style & the theme is 'Masculine'...of course as you know, this is not a look I do very often. It would have been more me growing up as I hated dresses, pink...well pretty much anything that was deemed 'girly' except lipgloss! I was more a play in the dirt and climb trees kind of girl, which I still am really when I get the chance.

I'm really glad this was theme as when you think on it, in society it's deemed as pretty much ok to be masculine or seen as a boy, but to be a girl or be seen as 'girly or effeminate' is to be weak or not ok and I think it's wrong! Women go through just as much as Men and have just as much strength as them too. Recently in the news, a young girl, named Leelah ended her life for being transgendered and felt alone & judged in this world...this is heart-breaking! Me wearing these clothes dressed masculine is ok, but for this young heart to dress as a girl because inside & preferably outside, that is who she is, was wrong to everyone around her. Why are we still living in a world that 'beats' someone down for being who they are...where are these hidden rules that state we have to dress alike, be alike, think alike, look alike....well, to let you know....there aren't any!! I wish there had been someone to reach out to her & let her know she was loved as she was and that suicide wasn't needed - it leaves too many people behind left in tatters. (even though that isn't the person's intentions).

You can be whatever the hell you want to be, dress how you want to dress and never ever be ashamed for who you are!! You don't need to follow trends, your friends or anyone else to be great in this world....you need to be yourself to do that, we all have magic inside us and it's such a shame that we keep it hidden away when we're too busy following instead of carving our own way or in Leelah's case & many others in this world - not allowed to be who we are becauseof someone else's thinking! Whether it's gender, race, or whatever else, let's make no room for these prejudices! So, I'd like to if I may...dedicate this post to Leelah & every other doll-heart in the world being oppressed and ridiculed for who they are! Leelah may not be with us any longer, but it doesn't mean her voice & many others' voices can't still be heard & matter! I hope you have a gorgeous start to the week my darlings!

  3. Hi Kizzy, you look fabulous as always! Your tribute is touching me right in the heart, it's so sad that people end their lives because they feel/are not accepted for who they truly are. It's a tough world isn't it... You have a good heart dear, I'm glad you care and write about such things. Big hug :-)

  6. Morning Kizzy and well done on everything you wrote, Im agreed with you! Honestly, I didnt read about her but her story is so sad and impressed me a lot, I can imagine how upset she was if she did it. The more unbelievable thing is that nowadays there are still similar prejudices and judgements. Regarding your outfit, you are outstanding in masculine style Kizzy, for sure it suits you so well and look even so feminine with it. How sad holidays are already over, hope you have a gorgeous week ahead, many hugs and kisses my dear! xo

  11. I love this look on you though I know it's not your typical look. You are so right as well - it is tragic what happened to Leelah and we need to create a world that is more accepting and supportive to teens.

  19. Hi K hope your year brings much joy and creativity! Thanks so much for your support of my blog! I like your dandy look, sometimes I take shelter in neutral outfits that are neither feminine nor masculine, allowing a sense of power! They work exceptionally well for meetings in my career, saying " I am serious". Hence my escape to more playful outfits over weekends.

  20. Great post! I think it is a cultural thing too though. In some places having the freedom to be more "masculine" is really frowned upon which irks me. I agree with you though. Being feminine is never weak and woe-betide to those that underestimate us for this.

  34. What a fantastic masculine look! I really do love how you styled it...and you wear it so well...with such a cool attitude!

I think it is bizarre how feminine is considered weak when it is in fact us females that often carry the burden of the world on our shoulders....

I feel so sorry for that girly and will never understand people who need to judge other and put everything in a certain category...I'm sure there is something wrong with people who cannot accept other being different...we're all different and we should embrace that, not judge ourselves and other for it.

I'm so sorry I missed out on this share in style but I've been exhausted lately...and it is hard to find energy for blogging even if I love it so!

  39. Totally dig this. It's so Janelle Monae. I love a good masculine look, even though I will always like girly styles too. And I agree with you--it's much more OK to be a man than to be a woman. I saw a commercial of a dad telling his kid that he was "playing like a girl" which is totally annoying. Hopefully, people can stop seeing women/girls in this manner and start realizing just how strong we are in life.

  40. Kizzy, you look awesome! I love these pictures and they remind me of classic actresses, such as Katherine Hepburn and Claudette Colbert. They rocked pants and menswear in general. All keeping their femininity! Did Gavin make you laugh in these photos? Too cute! LOL about the girls! May they have a great school year.

  44. We ('developed countries or individuals if there's no other') have to be an example to the rest of the world- the way we think and teach our children. There isn't right and wrong anymore (except some extreme cases that aren't related to this post) and that needs to be accepted. The change will come slowly to them but it will come, one day. After all, Rome wasn't bulit in one day, as some might say. Great message behind your outfit look :) Have a nice day, xx Maja

  49. This is another think I love about the burlesque world - everyone are accepted, no matter what you look like. And there's a LOT of gender bending going on there! Everyone can feel safe being who they want to be in that world, AND cherished for it! :) LOVE these photos of you!!! There is something about a woman dressed as a man. It's very sexy, powerful, and a bit mysterious... <3 <3 <3

  50. You look super amazing in this outfit and what a strong post this is and such a statement you made here. It's unfortunate we live in a world where people everywhere feel they cannot be who they want to be due to judgements. It's very sad!

  51. I actually think the world is becoming a much more open place. Where I work, there are loads of gay people and just a few years ago, it was hardly spoke about in my workplace. It's only a matter of time because transgendered and other things catch up! I do think people struggle with a lot more issues with self-acceptance than getting acceptance from others.

I love this look, even though it makes me feel a bit weird because it's totally not anything I ever would have thought you would wear before :p

  58. You are such a powerful and inspirational female, girl. You write as beautifully as you look physically and the statement that you made is amazing. We live in a time of so much ingenuity and advancement, and yet there are so many people who have been made to feel like who they are isn't enough or isn't accepted. This is absolutely amazing - not only do you look good, but your statement is incredible. I'm proud to be your friend - you're the best!!

  64. You spoke well! I wish it would be more important to people what kind of person someone is and how they feel rather than what they look like or what they are "supposed" to look like. It is so sad that someone feels the best thing is to end their lives to be recognized and to make a difference. I also wish people would feel they are free to wear what ever they feel comfortable, not what someone expects them to wear.
I know you prefer skirts and dresses, but you also look amazing in this look. All the best for you this year!
