Shake it Out

Happy Monday dolls!! I hope the weekend was peaceful & all is well for you today!! 'Stand Up to Bullying Day' is something that is very much close to my heart, as I was bullied all the time growing up for various different things. I was always told 'Oh ignore them' or 'They do it because their jealous' or 'Just be tough' and that was suppose to make the situation better..well it never did and I spent a lot of times alone and afraid to tell anyone about it. But, no one should have to live every day like that - to the point like me, I was afraid to go to school. Stand up to the bullies and tell them their wrong and you don't have to put up with their despicable behaviour. Bullying is a serious issue and sadly many people all over the world have even resulted in taking their own lives just to get away from the pain and humiliation they are subjected to each day!  Stand up to Bullying day takes place globally on November 18th, 2011 - people are pledging around the world to stand up to the bullies and say no more!! Please visit the website - here to see what you can do to get involved. You may know someone who is getting bullied or you, yourself may be the subject of bullying for whatever reason & need someone to talk to. There are people in the world that do care!! I wish you all a great & happy Monday!!

  9. I'm so sorry that you were ever bullied. I tended to be the person who would attack bullies. I know that an "eye for an eye makes the world go blind", but it makes me so angry to see someone hurting/putting down another person.

  11. Couldn't agree more with you! I didn't fit in at all when I was at school and was regularly whispered about and taunted. Although it was such an awful time in my life, I now look back on it and feel so happy that its over. I now have more friends than I ever imagined and the people who hurt me are now doing nothing with their lives! Karma is a wonderful thing.

I know what you mean with the whole 'they are just jelous thing' its so frustrating when all you want is for it all to stop!

If you haven't already, watch the 'it gets better' project on YouTube...there are loads and mainly directed as bullied gay/lesbian/transgender teens but it still applies to anyone who has or is being bullied!

Well done you for coming through it and posting about it. Your very brave :)

  15. this is such an important thing to work at these days... children need to learn about tolerance and to look for good role model and not those horrible people screaming at each other on TV...

    Have a nice week!

  17. I'm glad Kizzy that you wrote about this and remember the feeling of not fitting in as a kid. I'm happy that more people are becoming aware of the problem and there are places to turn now.

Hope you're off to a wonderful new week!

  18. I love Zoe's quote. It's amazing how American women hate their bodies, and we teach our daughters to do the same.

  19. Ha! Johnny Depp is so right (ahem, in so many ways, but that's not the point right now) and it would be great if people could simply accept each other. Have a lovely week xo

  21. Kizzy, you are simply remarkable! I am so connected to you, because we have experienced the SAME things in life. When I was growing up I didn't think teasing qualified as bullying, but as I grew older and wiser I now realize I was bullied. You listen to the stories that are going on and how people can be so CRUEL is beyond me. The girls that use to bother me came from households that were abusive. They were hurting and decided to hurt others. But now kids seem relentless. They bully kids at school, then on FB and other social media sites. They never stop. One father got on the school bus one day and chewed out his daughters abusers. She didn't have any more problems out of them. HAHAHAHA Girl, I'm going to post my PERSONAL FB page link below. If you would like to become personal friends please add me. If not I totally understand (no pressure). It's just that you're an inspiration and we've connected on so many levels that I feel you're past just a blog reader. I love the person you are. ((HUG)) And your comments on being bi-racial are on point! Both of my parents are african american, but both of my grandmothers are 1/2 white and 1/2 black (so i took back). Which gives me this unique look. Very few UNDERSTOOD, my likes and interests. It's refreshing to find another that does.

This is my FB personal page.

  27. such a heartwarming and inspirational post! i was definitely going through hard times growing up and i even hated my ethnicity because it didn't allow me to look and feel confident like other girls. but i grew up and realized that my life is perfect and i began to get my confidence back - and it shows in my clothes! <3
