Hiya dolls! Happy Monday..I hope your weekend was a great one. Mine, not so much. I received news in the early morning of Saturday that my dear Grandmother had passed away. She had cancer again. Many times during my life, I had watched her battle another type of cancer again and again. She never complained or asked 'why me'? When she had to have her other breast removed, she made jokes about the fake padding she had to put in her bra, she was always like that. Making jokes & then going to play bingo or to a garage sale. She was my rock and my hero and I miss her terribly. But, I know she lives on in my heart and one day I'll see her again. Throughout my life she taught me to be a caring person. Her greatest lesson was strength, courage and best of all - love. My heart is full of so many amazing memories, going thrift shopping on an early Saturday morning - then for a meal at a burger place. When I was little she let me have whatever I wanted. She would make chocolate fudge that I would get in trouble from, because I ate it all - all 1 pound of it, haha. She always had a big smile whenever I seen her. Sometimes we get so caught up in the material things of the world, that we forget what is really important and what we really should be thankful for. We spent many hours talking on the phone and she was always so proud of me living in Scotland and seeing the world - something she wished she had done. She carried around a 4-leaf clover I sent her from Ireland and listened to the bag pipes cd I gave her too, because they were her favourite sound. Though she is gone, I smile for having been given the time to know someone in this world as amazing as her and even better knowing that they loved me. I'm not sure if all my tears are for sadness or for the happiness of knowing her...maybe a bit of both. But, I know that my life goes on until we meet again and I will take her spirit with me. Life is too short to be afraid...we must live and do all that we seek in our hearts to do. Because we may never get the chance. My Grandmother lived to 92, but I know there was so much she wished she had done and seen. So, that is how I keep her memory alive, I will go and live life and see all the things I can, so that when I am her age, I won't have regrets or I wishes. Have a wonderful week and take chances, go places, live life without fear or worry of others opinion. Because we only get one life & this isn't the rehearsal! I'm going to take the week off to laugh, cry, sit in art galleries, read books and do happy things in her memory. See you soon :)
Big hugs to you all!!

“Every morning is a fresh beginning.
Every day the world is renewed.
Today is a new day.
I have lived all my life up to this moment.
This moment, this day, is as good and wonderful as any other.
I choose to make the most of this day.
I choose to cherish each moment.
This is my day of opportunity.
Today I shine.”

ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to you Timbarika! I could feel the love you had (and have) for your grandmother! Each of the memories you shared with us are so delicate, warm, and deeply touching! I can visualize you receiving each bit of "life" your grandmother inspired you by! She sounded absolutely amazingly brave, spirited, and joyful! My kind of person to be learning from daily!! I wish you peace this week as you contemplate your grandmother! I wish you joy in all that you re-live, and live out, this week and everyday because of your grandmother. xo

ReplyDeleteHey Kizzy. I was so upset when I heard about your grandmother. Mine died a couple of years ago from cancer. It was really traumatic for me. Hers was a slow death, so this invoked some sad memories for me. I understand what you're going through. Know that you and your family are in my prayers. It's ok to cry and be sad. Take one day at a time my friend. ((HUG))

ReplyDeleteSorry about your loss, Kizzy ! Love XXXXX
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for your loss - but I'm also glad you got to experience such a lovely person as your grandma seemed to be. To love, and be loved, by someone like that means more than anything else in this world. It's better to have loved someone, and then lose them, than to never have known and loved them at all! Keep the good memories alive darlin'! xox
ReplyDeleteThose quotes and photos are adorable!
ReplyDeleteYour grandmother sounds like an impressively strong and loving woman. I am so sorry for your loss. I don't know if losing people we love and admire ever gets any easier with time. (Today is my mom's birthday and I still miss her dearly, after a year. I've been looking at her old, smiling photographs, remembering her beautifully deep voice reading books and poetry, and just admiring how stoic she was about her ailments, just like your grandma.)
ReplyDeleteI wish you a beautiful week looking at art, living your life, and remembering your grandmother! xxx
Sorry for your loss,
ReplyDeleteI know how grandmothers are adored and loved and to lose them would be such sorrow. But I am glad you have these wonderful quotes to share, nice to know you have so much positivity in you ♥

ReplyDelete"Though she is gone, I smile for having been given the time to..."
Sometimes I also feel the same way. A person is here for a reason no matter how long or how short. I think there is life's lessons to be learnt from everyone and every experience.
sending my deepest condolences to you, be strong dear! anyways, those pictures are so inspiring.. especially the last one ;D
