Happy Friday dolls!! I hope the week has been kind to you all. I am tired really, so glad for Friday. My last weekend to do nothing before the school starts here again in the new week. Lots to organise and take care of. Welcome to my new followers :) I leave you with just small fragments of life from here and there.
Have a wonderful weekend
xoxoxoxo
{The sun going down outside where I live. I love watching the sun go down or come up, it's that inbetween moment when everything comes alive and changes once more before sleeping or getting on with the day}
{Pondering at the Kelvingrove Museum, I had just come out from seeing Dali's Christ of Saint John of the Cross Painting - below. I had teared up a bit seeing the painting, felt quite humbled. But, I also missed my Nana, as she had just passed away (this was taken at the end of March}
{Salvador Dali. 1951. The 16th century Spanish mystic St. John of the Cross had a vision that he had translated to paper. He'd drawn the cruxifiction from an unusual angle & when Dali seen this drawing, he was inspired to create this painting - The Christ of St. John of the Cross. He wanted to render the painting from the point of view that God would have seen. Because we see Jesus as the connecting bridge between God and man. The cross and Christ for a triangle to represent the Holy Trinity, Christ's head a circle in the center to mean that he or his act is the center and meaning of everything in the universe. He is all you need to realise. The arrow points to the earth, meaning that he is God's gift to mankind. This painting hung in a small room & it really is a must see, because as you step closer to it...you, yourself feel as if you are walking in the sky on a tightrope towards the cross and looking down...it really is amazing. Dali has always been a favourite since studying Art History}
{Lilies, my favourite flowers (besides peonies)...there are always lilies in my house somewhere...I love the heady aromatic scent that fills my senses...helps me relax}
{A few dresses hanging around after my wardrobe pole fell down and clothes were everywhere...they are now all organised and colour coordinated, haha. Maybe I just need a bigger wardrobe}
{My squirrel friend that I spotted at the Botanical Gardens in Glasgow, eating cheese & onion crisps (chips for Americans). I don't blame him, I like the cheese & onion kind too - although, I don't eat crisps anymore}
{And you know...I'm in love with Art Nouveau...so this piece is a must...it's a Lalique piece...you can see more & learn about him here on the marvellous Miss Meadows blog...she's a darling doll, she is.}

You're so beautiful Doll, I don't think that anyone out there can disagree with that either :) I love these photos, both you and that squirrel have some poor taste in crisps though, cheese and onion turn me haha! Enjoy your last weekend before school too, I can't believe it's almost time for everyone to go back to school already.

ReplyDeleteCheese and onion are my absolute favorites, so the squirrel, you and I should start a club! I love the outfit on you, and am an absolute fan of Dali's work. His museum in Spain was an absolute delight!
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing that Dalí painting when I studied Art History. I love the perspective in it, and with that light and shadow I think even non-believers will feel humble when seeing it. So sorry about your Nana - but I know she can still see you, even tho you can't see her right now...The music fit so well with this post! There's something about slavic violins that just draws me in - like gypsy-magic... :) And thank you for linking to my page - again! Your the loveliest of dolls!!! <3
ReplyDeleteFirstly, let me say my deepest condolences on your Nana's passing. I really hope you will find comfort in your memories of her. You have been such a dear blog friend to me and I always love coming by to visit you. have a great weekend and be sure to rest.

Hi dollface! How are you? Nice little glimpse in to your wardrobe that fell. I wonder about how many dresses you have. I have so many that I have not worn but keep hoarding and buying. Thank you for sharing the art that moves and inspires you. I am sure I would have reacted the same way to the Dali painting. oh kizzy! back to school time! there's so much preparation. i know you've been busy. when i was little my mom dreaded this time of year. hahaha do a little at a time and get some rest. i love that picture of the sunset. at first i thought it was a painting or postcard. that is awesome to see everyday. our sunset doesn't look like that. hahaha i am loving you in that purple dress and sassy ankle boots. ankle boots are so IN this winter. i can understand your loss. a loss of a loved one is difficult. i've been there many times. ((HUG)) that squirrel is too funny! girl you are an excellent photographer!!! stalk me anytime. haha i'm definitely going to mail your package by the end of the month. girl i had to get some unexpected electrical work done (costly), the dryer broke (haha), and I had to call the plumber. When it rains it pours, but I still have sunshine in my heart and for others. Hope you're having an amazing weekend and I can't wait to watch the closing ceremonies.
