Hello babydolls! What's shakin'!?! Hope all is peachy keen in your worlds. I stopped at the McLean Museum & Art Gallery as the sun was shining so bright in the courtyard, it was really lovely. I had been doing some research on the building after posting about it here and have since discovered that there were meetings held here for a Philosophical Society and one of the guests who lectured here was one of my favourite writers, Oscar Wilde. So, I had to return to it and decided to take some pictures outside as the sun was glorious. The lectures were on cultural and scientific subjects & started in 1861. And since 1876, they have been held each Autumn and Winter. Many famous figures have lectured here such as Lord Kelvin, Professor Joule and of course Oscar Wilde. I really wish I had been around back then to see Oscar Wilde give a lecture, that would have been most fascinating. But, just knowing he was around here is good enough for me. And if you're wondering if I really was dancing in this courtyard...of course I was ; ) A dance during the day keeps the stress away! I highly recommend it. If you wish to see a picture of the whole building itself, see my post here.
Have a gorgeous day!

I adore your outfit Doll, the green look is just perfect and I love your shoes! The fact that Oscar Wilde lectured here is really interesting to me, I once read a book called "the Wit of Wilde," and he is absolutely genius! He's buried in the same place as Jim Morrison too which makes him even more awesome!
ReplyDeleteHello:
ReplyDeleteHow fascinating that you are dancing the day away on the very spot that Oscar Wilde once stepped [and, most probably he was dancing too!!]
Wilde is a most fascinating character and, for us, so many scenes from his plays are iconic in the annals of English Literature. How curious that he lectured in that very building.
The green is such a pretty shade, perfectly suited to its horticultural surroundings!
So cool sweetie!!!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, wouldn't it have been just glorious to see him give a lecture? The thought of it makes me giddy and want to dress real pretty!
ReplyDeleteI've always loved that dress and you somehow look even more gorgeous in it than usual. And the tulle skirt underneath is brilliant!
Love this kinds of posts x
Hope you're having a great day today :)

I love Oscar Wilde too and I would have loved to have been there attending his lectures as well. It's great to find people who love Oscar Wilde. He was pretty radical and I'm sure many people during his time did not quite fancy him.
ReplyDeleteYou look like santarina here, only in green. Such a dear!

You look amazing in that green dress! That color fits you so well! And even if my ultimate favorite author is Edgar Allan Poe, Mr Wilde comes in a very close second place :) I have a book with his collected works in it, so I've read it all! One of m favorite quotes comes from him too; "I can resist everything except temptation" ;D xxx
ReplyDeletethis outfit is impeccable! I love the toughness of the ankle booties with the vintagey femininity of the rest of the outfit! it's well done and very original, I am definitely following you now :)
