Edinburgh Zoo is owned by The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS). The Society was founded in March 1909, and the Zoo opened in July 1913. Set in 82 acres of sloping parkland, the Zoo is situated three miles to the west of Edinburgh city centre. It would be near impossible for me to have taken a picture of every animal in it's enclosure, but I've included here some of my very favourite animals that I spend most of my time watching when I visit the zoo. The Amur Leopard being my favourite along with the flamingos and marmosets. I could go on and on, but I love animals. Edinburgh Zoo do a great work in conservation and teaching visitors why it's so very important we strive to save these animals along with their homelands. Animals are being hunted for their pelts, teeth and other such things for clothing, furnishings and many other senseless acts. Not only do they work to save the species and strive to mate them when they can, they also work to conserve not only the animal's homelands, but the Earth itself...as we all belong to this Earth and we must work to preserve the beauty of it. The zoo is the second main attraction in Edinburgh, second only to the castle itself. Though going to the zoo can sometimes be sad, as I wish the animals were able to be set free in their homelands, I am happy that they are somewhere that takes care of them and works hard to make sure they continue on for generations to come & teaches children like my girls why the Earth and it's inhabitants both animal and human are so important to the circle of life we live in and how we need to take care of each other!! If you're ever in Edinburgh, do venture out and visit the zoo and see my favourites there too!
Have a wonderful day dolls
xoxoxoxo
P.S. - I'll have my outfit from the day in a post next week, plus my new glasses ;)
I know he's not real....but I thought he was equally just as cute....

DeleteWonderful pictures my dear. A few of them look like wild life photography. I love to have such a close look into the eyes of wild animals, it's somehow touching. Lots of love, Sara xx
ReplyDeleteThank you :) Yes, I like when you can see so close to them and into their eyes. They can understand more than we think :))) Lots of love xx
DeleteSuch lovely animals and pictures Kizzy, I am particularly fond of the little leopard, and the hanging monkey (was he asleep:)
ReplyDelete- I love going to the zoo, but it always saddens me somehow, I always feel the animals should be in the wild:)) But alas I still go and the girls adore it :)
Happy wednesday doll,
Ax
thank you doll. I love the leopard, I go and see him every time and he comes to the glass where my hand is. I always want to sit him free really. I feel the same :) xx
DeleteBeautiful photos of really strong and beautiful animals! It's really nice that there are places that take good care of them. It's heartbreaking reading about how cruel people can be in their quest for pieces of these animals.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yes, I agree. It's just not right. Very heartbreaking. x
DeleteYour pics look so amazing
ReplyDeleteand those animals are awesome
they seem to be busy minding their own world
and not really bothered by the people visiting them
or taking their pics.
thank you. Yes, they come up to people and stare and then go on about their way. :)
DeleteGorgeous photos, I can't remember my last visit to a zoo... Love the flamingos with their beautiful colours and the fab pic of the zebra! Have a lovely day xo
ReplyDeletemerci! Hope you have a great day too doll xo
DeleteWow!!! Nature is beautiful, these animals looks very friendly, i am always scared of any type of animals these days cause i use to have it at the back of my mind what of if something goes wrong? Myself and my dad was been bitten by a dog we use to see and cherish as part of our family but one day something went wrong hummm... that scares me so much... i love this Zoo so much, my hubby would love to take the kids to watch...
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day, bless.
I get a bit timid with the birds as I had one fly over me before and it scared me, so now i get nervous. So I understand you. I hope you have a great day doll xx
DeleteEvery Lingerie store i have visited in my local area for measurement says they do cup size only, huhh! Am visiting a female tailor tomorrow during my break time if she can do it.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a treat Dainty Doll, I love all of these photos. I've been to Belfast Zoo before and while it was fun I know for a fact there's no way it'd be as amazing as this, I'd love to check out this place!
ReplyDeleteI think you'd enjoy it doll :)
DeleteLove all! Animals are able to wake up beautiful instincts in us, humans ... I promise you that if I ever visit Edinburgh I will go to visit them and you, dear doll.
ReplyDeleteThat would be wonderful. I hope you will enjoy :)) And I will come too :)
DeleteAwww I love all those! I'll go to the zoo whenever I'll visit Edinburgh! :) xx
ReplyDeleteYes, you must. I think you will love it :) xx
DeleteEven though I still have to blow my nose several times a day, and cough like an old engine that needs it's oil changed, I don't feel as bad as last week. I really felt sick then, like I had been struck by a man-cold! Haha! But those days I spent in front of the TV, watching animal shows - which I LOVE! I have a special weakness for big cats, and you pictures in this post are amazing! Do you know who Kevin Richardson is? If not, he has a huge farm in Africa, where he cares for big cats, and hyenas. He is so good with his animals that they treat him like one of the pack, trusting him completely. To raise money for his farm a hole documentary series was made about him. I have seen every episode, and it's such a joy seeing Kevin care for, and cuddle with these big cats like they were just small house cats. There are lots of clips about him on YouTube, and here is one! :) xox

I will watch this for sure :)) Sounds wonderful. We need more people who really care for these animals & want to work hard so they can go back to their homes. Poachers and people like that are the ones that should be taken care of, so they can go home. Am glad you are better doll xox
DeleteSo cute! I really love the tone in these photos.

DeleteKizzy, you got some UP CLOSE shots girl! HaHaHa The animals are beautiful! I thought they would reach out and come through my computer screen. HAHAHA You are GOOOD!!! What a beautiful zoo! I love their conservation efforts. So beautiful. Thanks for sharing doll and have a great day.

Thank you. I like to get as close as I can. The animals seem to come up to me or my girls. We wish we could set them free though, but I do love the conservation aspects of zoos. Hope you have a great day too doll x
DeleteI love cats. Both the domestic and the wild ones.
ReplyDeleteI like the big cats, though not always the domestic ones x
DeleteGorgeous photos! I feel the same about zoos. They're kinda sad but kind of amazing at the same time! xx
ReplyDeleteAdorable <3
ReplyDeletebig Hugs :)
big hugs to you too x
DeleteWoow pictures are really beautiful Kizzy!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know why but zoos make me feel kind of unhappy... Maybe is because I think animals feel sad living inside there... :(

gracias. I understand you, they pay the price for what man does I think. They should be able to be free and unharmed, but man sees it differently. So sad. I like what they do to keep the species going, but they should be out to run in their land as they need :)) xoxo
DeleteYou took some beautiful photos of the zoo animals. Definitely makes me want to go back to a zoo soon. It's always a fun time.
ReplyDeleteOh to Be a Muse

love your photography! these remind me of school trips to the zoo. i sometimes feel a little sad also that the animals are not in their natural habitat(s). but in some cases, it's a good thing...especially if a species is in threat of being endangered.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I feel the same, but what needs to happen is have more protection against the humans that do them harm for their fur and habitats. They pay the price for what man does. it's unfair really. x
Deletei agree, more efforts need to be made in protecting these animals.
DeleteSuch a wonderful walk in the wild, dear Kizzy.

DeletePerhaps it's because I grew up in the wilderness that I find zoos an uncomfortable place to be. I know that they are necessary these days for the preservation of wildlife. These are lovely photos!

ReplyDeleteGoing to the zoo was a regular past time for me. I definitely make it a point to visit whatever the zoo of whatever city I am currently visiting or living in....I'm sure that this one would not disappoint. Like I said in your other post, living anywhere in Europe would be a dream for me! -Jess L
ReplyDeleteYou are a gifted photographer hun, plus that zoo must take a very good care of the animals because they have a sort of authentic lustre that I wouldn't know how to describe otherwise.
