Hello my darling dolls...happy Friday!! I hope all of you are well, we've been having some really crazy storms and winds here, dangerous really. Hopefully the weekend will settle for us all. Some weeks ago I came across a really genius idea...taking every day items that you or I may throw away or more importantly recycle & instead creating fashion masterpieces you can wear! And that is just what Dumpster Design do!
As many of you will know from reading this blog, that I completely love the out of the ordinary way of thinking or creating something different because, like Baudelaire said...'The Beautiful is always Bizarre! And I don't think it's always for something that 'looks' bizarre, but a way of thinking. Being able to think beyond what is already out there & giving life to something new. We live in a world that is consumed by having the latest everything, some of us live beyond our means and waste has become a huge problem.
A big part of this problem comes from fast fashion & our need for the latest trend and then not wanting it after the trend is over. Which is why I have great respect for Eco designers who create new ways of using sustainable materials for their creations. And in this case, using every day materials & giving it the wow factor.
Dumpster Design began in 2007, they were inspired to tackle today's throw-away mentality and present show-stopping and unconventional garments. Each piece is handcrafted entirely from recycled materials.
Even though these are one-off commissions for special occasions and PR campaigns, I can't help but think, 'Who wouldn't want to wear these in every day fashion?? I surely would - well not in the rain, mind you! I think this is a completely outstanding idea in tackling waste and I feel it also sends a positive message about environmental issues. I completely love them!! Below you can see some examples of their work & my favourites!! I hope you have a gorgeous weekend my darling dolls!! Be sure to check out Dumpster Designs site for more delights!!

First I have to make a joke, this reminds me of Derelict in Zoolander. But on a more serious note, the fashion world is out of control and the latest is not always the best, and want is not always need. Have a great weekend!

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely wonderful, dear doll. This reminds me .. Some years ago, there was an exhibition of beautiful dresses in a commercial center of the island where I live ... I went to see them and my excitement grew when I admired the dresses closely and discovered that they were made with paper ... so beautiful! You made me laugh ... not wear them in the rain, lol
ReplyDeleteWow, what incredible creations.

ReplyDeleteI'm appalled from the concept, and if I must be honest even more by the outcome of the project. I would wear every single piece too, as you say not under the rain :-) May your week be bliss! P.s. I'd like to know what you heard about Sheinside and if the information is trustworthy according to you. I would never want to mislead my dear readers...
