Sometimes you find what you're looking for when you're not looking for what you had been looking for. Sometimes, it just appears as if out of thin air, as if it had been searching for you as well, things that stop you in your tracks, that speak no words, yet all the right words at the same time. Feelings you hold deep inside but find no words suitable to release them. Sometimes, you're the kind of person that feels in pictures, music notes or strokes of paint across a canvas...this is definitely me. I guess that is why I can feel so much when I look at these photographs.
Rimel Neffati is young woman who began taking photographs at the end of 2008, self-taught, she quickly began to learn that she could create something beyond photography. Making self-portraits became the way due to it's easiness of finding a model & also one who knows exactly what you're looking to express. Rimel didn't seek to become a 'proper' photograher, she just wanted to create images one might see painted or drawn.
She loves what she does and feels she has found her way, not only by self-portraits but beyond in creating, this is her way of speaking, expressing, capture memories. It's this type of photography that I used to spend many hours doing myself, it's been a long time since then, but seeing photographs like these always make me want to go there once again.
I hope you love them as I do & visit Rimel's website and facebook page for more photos and news too. Have a wonderful day my dears!

ReplyDeleteWow, these are photographs?? They are unbelievable. Like you say, they look like they've been hand drawn or painted. The skull pictures are not to my taste but I love the final photograph in red. How were those flowers photographed? The talents that some people are gifted are incredible. I fell in love with this post just from your first line:
ReplyDeleteSometimes you find what you're looking for when you're not looking for what you had been looking for.
It resonates with me and I can't agree no more how true it is.
As you know, I love things morbid and these pictures evoke a sense of gloom and melancholy. Thank you for sharing Rimel's works.
