Inspirations du Jour: The 70's

I love the 70's!! Of course I do, I was born in the 70's!! But seriously, I really do! From the vibrant make-up, wild hair styles, funky very high shoes to the brilliant music, everything was the essence of cool!! Not only were these things cool, but also in continuation from the 60's, people were fighting for equality and making their voices heard!
I can remember very well listening to my mum's old 8-tracks and records and thinking it was the coolest stuff I had ever seen. Though, only born at the end of the 70's, it continued to spill into the early 80's and influence a new generation. Now a lot older from then, I still have a closet full of 70's clothes and enjoy wearing them so much. Unlike a lot of people, what influences my style is era's, movies and most of all Art!! So, my closet is a huge array of different time travels.
I adore the flouncy sleeves of 70's dresses, the way they flow when one walks and how they move. The shoes make me feel taller and walk with a essence of sass. The makeup is bright and fun shouting "look at me but don't you dare touch"!!
I just want to get on the dance floor and rock the night away covered in glitter and disco lights. From Diana Ross, to Bianca Jagger & over to Twiggy...women were so dynamite!! Of course, even though I love the influences of this time, I still rather live in this moment...women have and continue to make so many marks!! Do you enjoy the 70's? What eras do you enjoy, I love so many & will try to share them on the blog in time. What's your favourite 70's inspiration? Have a great day dolls.

  6. Beautiful inspirational post! My parents were born in the 70's so I grew up listening to the music of that wonderful period. I love all the patterns and cuts of clothes, and it's all coming back so I can fill my wardrobe with it. :') I also adore 50's and 60's.

  8. I have a soft spot for the 70s and my mom still has (or had!) a few great accessories. I love her silver block heel wedding shoes and this dress she made from a popular print (I think it's been donated!) The era had such personality and style! You and Bianca share such a similar look sometimes - daring, bold, and fun!

  16. I love that you can find something great in each and every decade. My favorite thing about the '70s was that people weren't afraid to have their fashion live out loud!

  17. I do love the seventies...what is there not to love? those fabulous collars, palazzo pants and flare jeans...I love that period. Diana Ross is probably what comes to my mind first. I can't say that I'm familiar with Twiggy's fashion style. I only remember her eye make up- it was so dramatic...but I don't remember seeing her outfits or being influenced by them- I should look her up. I'm sure she had an interesting style.
