Hiya dolls!! I hope your week has started well, I have been sick all weekend and still recovering, which is why there was no post yesterday and a short one today. Still shattered and this cold is still hanging on. But, I wanted to at least leave you with things that have been inspiring me lately!! I hope you enjoy them. I'll try and get a new outfit post soon as the weather is dry and I feel better!! Have a sweet day.

Above - my nephew Devon at a protest against Trump and these stupid bannings & everything that is wrong just now in America!! Am so very proud of him!! We cannot just sit back and do nothing, please lend your voice & resources to this cause! Everyone no matter what race/religion/sexual orientation is welcome in the US!!
Below - my friend Jenny on Chinese New Year! This is what she captioned the picture, "Gung Hay Fat Choy. Don't appropriate other cultures. Don't be an asshole". Which I agree with, many seem to think another's culture is there for the taking to do with as they wish. But, one must realise a culture is not a fashion show or trend. Right now Jenny & many of us are rallying against Pinup Girl Clothing, who took it upon themselves to make a 'Chinese New Year' clothing collection that failed to have any sensitivity to Chinese culture or include models from this culture - thinking that since it's new year, it must mean dragons, when this is the year of the rooster!! Jenny emailed them about this & they proceeded to be very rude and blocked some of her friends when they wanted to talk about appropriation in their facebook group. They were also harassed and called racist things from members of the group. These clothes are not costumes for others to dress up in any time they wish. I'll be having Jenny on the blog soon to further discuss and share her experiences (if she says yes, ha)

Yesss, your nephew and Jenny rock! Always love seeing the beautiful images and items you pick out, definitely injects much needed magic into my week <3
ReplyDeleteBeautiful inspirations and photos:)

I agree, this affects us all and we must stand up wherever we are in the world. We had coworkers stuck at the airport from a business trip. Glad to hear Jenny is fighting against the cultural appropriation issue. The late great Maya Angelou is my favourite. I think I need those lace/petal pillows! :) Enjoy the day, doll. x
ReplyDeleteGood for your nephew by the way, the things that are going on right now make me so, so angry. On a brighter note; I love where you find inspiration - there can be so much found in the tiniest of details! Beautiful!

Good for Devon for standing up for what's right! It's so important right now with everything going on. And good for Jenny for standing up against cultural appropriation. I don't know how many times I've had to correct people on Chinese culture but i alway try to and it's important that we all respect each other's culture.
ReplyDeleteReally lovely.
ReplyDeleteThe last quote is so true...

Love that first quote! Art is such a comfort in this world. I'm sorry to hear about your cold, I hope you will recover fully soon. This winter has been difficult for a lot of people, so many viruses going on...I hope you feel better in no time. Take care of yourself and rest...I think that when we're sick, no matter is it a cold or a flu, we need to give our bodies time to recover.
ReplyDeleteAmazing inspirations dear.

thanks for sharing these :) Trump's racism must be stopped and I hate cultural appropriation. I am actually part chinese also and what they did was offensive.

It is crazy all the things going on all over the world. I think we forget we all are in this together and need to respect one another.
ReplyDeleteI do love all the beautiful pictures of inspiration that you shared! Those Alice in Wonderland inspired tea cups are so cute and I adore those fun sky high platform shoes!

I love seeing the pretty things on your blog to help distract me from the craziness in the world.
ReplyDeleteThe politics suck here right now and we will be ridiculed by the rest of the world soon. I love the heart handbag and the floral jacket. I would love to own them. Happy February my dear. . .
ReplyDeleteHope you get well soon, proud of your nephew, and love the pictures :)

Your brother is doing such a great work
ReplyDeleteKudos to Devon! Now is certainly the time to make our voices heard. I have never donated so much to nonprofit organizations but want to make sure my values and causes are appropriately valued.
ReplyDeleteOh and I certainly will not be visiting Pinup clothing. How ridiculous that they wouldn't even have a conversation about the topic! Jenny meanwhile looks gorgeous!
hope you'll feel better soon! You're nephew's amazing, proud of him!

ReplyDeleteabsolutely love that first photo you posted of your nephew! you must be so proud of him. it's true everyone should be welcome in the US. causing and encouraging division between people is counteractive to a functioning society!

ReplyDeleteWow, I hope you do interview Jenny soon! Also thanks for bring awareness to the cause in the U.S. We are going through hell, with this new administration in Washington. Families are getting torn apart because parts of their family members are being sent back to their native countries without having their individual cases dealt with legally through the court system. It really feels like a witch hunt, no joke. Hope this government gets it together ASAP! Much love and light to you dear.
