{Creator} Mister Finch's Textile Art

A while back I came across Mister Finch and his textile art & immediately became besotted with everything. It reminded me of childhood days spent running through fields, flying kites and watching clouds shaped like bunnies float by as we daydreamed of magical places we wanted to go to. All those happy memories came back when I saw his wondrous works. He makes things of dreams and fairytales, drawing influences greatly from nature and folklore stories of lessons to learn and warnings of life. You almost expect each piece to fly away or move to speak to you as delightful creatures do in the books, this is done by the way he humanises the animals with shoes, boots and expression. Mister Finch has said that he imagines them coming alive at night, getting dressed and living out their secret life - this to me would be amazing, I'd love it. But, what I think is most excellent of all, is that he's had no formal training in anything he makes, he did take a short art course many years back, but all the sewing & creating he's learned on his own. It just shows that creativity and going for it, is what counts most in the creation of art. It can't be completely taught, it has to come from the inside. Most of his pieces use recycled materials, not only as an ethical statement, but also one of continuing on the story of these pieces, creating new adventures & stories wound together with love! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do & pay Mister Finch a visit & get lost in the fairytales he creates!

Have a beautiful day dolls

as there is plenty to see & be kept up to date with:

Hares in an embraces...the tenderness over their faces is so moving...wonderful!

Butterfly brooches, because one can never have enough brooches or butterflies ;)

I could scare my husband with this, but it is quite magnificent!

I love the contrast of the furry bit to the textured feel of the textile fabric used, so pretty!

I love owls...they always make me think of Labyrinth or Harry Potter, gorgeous!

The cloak around the fox is really special, I'm almost waiting for the fox to wake up.

Hooded Fabric Hare that I'm in love with, so beautiful <3

Seahorse Textile Wall Art - PRECIOUS!! I love it!

Mr. Wolf - ahooooooo!!

  1. These are absolutely amazing, wow! And of course you're very right about the formal training part: I believe that you have to have something special in you that no training can teach you. It's ok to go to "art college" or uni to refine your skills, but it can't replace natural talent. xo
