| 8 things that could change your life in a year |

Life will only change when you become more committed to your dreams than your comfort zone.

At the start of the year, we are inundated with tons of resolutions and 'new year new me' slogans to almost the point of exhaustion. Then the new year seems impossible to tackle as things might not be going the way you envisioned this 'new year, new me' to be going. But, that's because quite often our resolutions (which I never make, because they're usually unrealistic) or train of thought is wanting to go from point A to Point Z within a flash. But, what it really takes is a journey of many simple steps along the way. So today I've listed 8 things we could do to change our way of life throughout the year. Are these the only possible 8 things...no, the list is endless and can be added to or taken away according to one's life, so please don't take this as set in stone. It's only a step, a beginning, a thought to set one headed in a direction. So here we are:

8 Things that could change your life in a year

1. Stop complaining and appreciate how lucky you are each day. This is a very hard one for some people, they live very pessimistic lives. But, sometimes being thankful for what you do have rather than what you don't is often all you need to get you going on reaching your goals, you know that things aren't going to be perfect or easy, but there is purpose & blessings along the way and you're able to spot them much easier when your mindset is on positive realistic thoughts.

2. Embrace loneliness and reinvent yourself in the process. Being alone is sometimes seen as a negative, but often it is a positive because you can focus on yourself, your path and where you want to be. It gives you time to learn more about yourself and what you're capable of or didn't know you were capable of without relying on others to do it for you. You become your own champion & person without outside influence that isn't needed. We need to be able to say we did it on our own and this is all of me, that kind of feeling is worth much more than knowing you had little part in anything you achieve or desire. It makes the celebrations with family & friends that more sweeter.

3. Say goodbye to the people that don't bring positive energy into your life. Because sometimes it really is other people that suck the life out of us, their toxic negative energy can drag us down and project their negative thoughts into our own. So sometimes it takes stepping away from them either for a short time or forever that is needed. It's not selfish, it's important for our own self-care. Unless they change, they will only continue to clog all their relationships down eventually. You deserve to be around uplifting, realistic people.

4. Turn off the TV and set Internet controls/boundaries. This can be a huge vice for us all, we get sucked into the world of TV and Internet and forget the real world outside. We 'create lives' on social media but don't actually spend a lot of time really living it in real life. We can get caught up in other people's lives and forget our own. Which will only lead to feeling down because we wasted time. So be sure to set limits and make sure social media and TV isn't taking up more time than it should, you need a balance. So you're getting goals done but also having fun too.

5. Pick one skill you wish to cultivate and put all your efforts into developing it. Sometimes we want to be good at everything and for some it comes easy and for others not so much. Trying to do everything can also spread us too thinly and we become burned out. Focusing on what we're good at and developing it can often lead to opportunities for it to not only shine (in a job or otherwise) often it can spark inspiration for other areas we're good at that were getting clogged down from trying to do everything at once.

6. Commit to the goals you set and never look back. If you want to reach a goal, you have to put the work in. Nothing can be gained from doing nothing. We can't grow these kinds of trees that give us everything we dream of. If you don't commit and out the hard work in, why should it just be handed to you. Don't worry if the goal changes or doesn't go exactly as you dreamed, most times they never do. You change or the situation changes and both are perfectly fine. The only thing is to keep going!

7. Sweat each day to boost your mood. Exercise is such a great way to boost endorphins in the body. Studies have shown it to have a beneficial boost to those who suffer from mild to moderate anxiety, stress, depression & other issues. Endorphins help us to relax, have sharper thinking and memory, sleep better, stronger resistance and self esteem. All of which can help in reaching your goals & blocking out negativity. (As always see a doctor before starting heavy exercise & never alter any medications for depression or otherwise without consultation)

8. Fall forward. Learn from any mistake you make. Sometimes when we make a mistake or a problem arises, we immediately retreat and never try again. This can cause thoughts of hopelessness or failure to arise in our thinking and this only snowballs into bigger problems. Mistakes aren't the end, in fact many times our biggest triumphs rise from the ashes of our mistakes. What is important is how we react to the mistake and how we move forward from it. So, the next time you make a mistake, think how you can fix it, what you can learn from it and how to move forward and most importantly, leave the mistake in the past where it belongs!

Have a great day dolls,

  4. These are great tips. I think limiting our screen time is really important. After all, the digital world is not real. We need to exist in the real world and that is why we need to always pay attention to balance. Exercising every day is another great tip. Not complaining and being grateful for what we have can be such a game changer, especially mentally. Learning to appreciate ourselves and what we have can bring so many positives into our life. There is nothing worse than comparing ourselves with others in an unhealthy way. As I said, these are fantastic things that can change our lives. My fav thing from this list is to focus on one skill we want to develop.

  5. This is such a wonderful and doable list of things that can add up to have such an incredible impact on anyone's life. I started unplugging regularly two years ago and doing so just helps me to enjoy each moment and my life so much more. Cutting out toxic people is so important too!

If you love Lee Dong Wook you should totally watch Scent of a Woman and Partner. He was so good in both as were his leading ladies.
