Ever since a child, there has always been Hello Kitty. From her first appearance in 1974, I have practically lived a whole life with Hello Kitty. Growing up in the US, there was a giant Hello Kitty store in the mall & I always knew when we were getting closer to it because the air would turn sweet & you could hear music happily playing. The front of the store was a giant house with gates that you went through to get in, it was the highlight of every trip to the mall for my older sister and I. We would beg our mum to let us go there & spend all our allowance. I always bought pencils, erasers, dolls and other pretty things, what I loved the most was how sweet they all would smell. No matter where you were, that sweet soft smell always stirred such a magical feeling of happiness. Even at my age now, I still get that feeling whenever I see (or buy, ahem) something Hello Kitty.

So when Flamingo Candles got in touch with me about their recent collaboration with Hello Kitty for her 45th Anniversary, I was bursting with happiness and couldn't refuse. In honour of the universal icon, Flamingo Candles have created a candle range that's full of fun, sass, colour, friendship & girl power. Each candle is as unique as Hello Kitty herself, I've seen a lot of collaborations & I really feel after seeing it, that they've truly captured the essence of what makes the world of Hello Kitty connect to so many around the world.

In this collection you'll find 16 candles (no pun intended, lol) with 6 different candle types that all come with different scents & colours. They've really gone all out & it's worth every penny. I received two candles, which was to me very generous, as I honestly expected one, but see two in the cute Hello Kitty box arrive to my house was literal sunshine on a rainy day. Hello Kitty x Flamingo Candles Watermelon Selfie Tin Candle. £10/180g: Hello Kitty is ready for her selfie with this candle, the little pictures on the tin are super cute & reminiscent of life on social media. Opening the tin is like getting a pack of watermelon bubble gum in candle form, it smells so delicious & the thin layer of glitter on top the candle wax is so pretty. A fun blend of watermelon, peach, strawberry, lime and melon with a hint of coconut, it's a perfect aromatic burst of fun & happiness. Definitely reminds me of the summertime with lots of sunshine and colours. Nothing sickly sweet but, definitely a stronger scent to the one above, So lush! As you know, I get migraines easily and even though this has a fuller scent, it wasn't anything too strong to cause any problems, I really enjoyed this, the vibe I got from the scent was nostalgic of childhood.

Hello Kitty x Flamingo Candles Apple Pie Babe with the Power Purple Frosted Jar Candle.£14/200g: Of course from first glance, I would love this candle with Hello Kitty on a unicorn, haha and the Labyrinth reference is perfect. Scented with apple pie, the notes are lemon, apple, vanilla and caramel. I have to say, if you're expecting a full on apple pie scent, you won't find it. It's more like when you have apple pie with a dash of ice-cream with it and all the flavours/scents mix together, I can easily separate the scents and pinpoint them. It's a soft and sweet scent without being sickly or heady, in all honesty, if it was a pie, I'd have eaten it by now, ha. An intoxicating sweetness that you instantly feel wrapped warm in, perfect for the bedroom or bathroom to relax to. Such a gorgeous scent, I love it.

As you can see below, the collection is not only nostalgic but, a celebration of all that is cute & fun in life - just like Hello Kitty and that is something everyone needs.
